GROUNDING
AND CENTERING YOURSELF
I always use my grounding meditation at the beginning of any visionary
work. This includes pendulum use, tarot readings, feng shui adjustments,
blessings, etc. Below is an outline of the steps I use; feel free to change
it to suit your needs. This exercize can take just a few minutes (or sometimes
much longer, as it is quite enjoyable).
Sit crosslegged on the floor and imagine a root reaching from your spine deep into the earth. With each breath draw up beautiful colorful energy back into your body - draw the energy up through each of your chakras and then out the top of your head. Take deep slow breaths in as you pull the energy up into yourself, and allow it to expand through and out of you as you exhale. With slow rythmic breaths allow the energy of the earth to nourish and ground you. (This grounding will keep you from getting too "spacy" as you enter into an altered state.)
Once you feel grounded, begin to breath in, drawing Universal cosmic energy down from above you into your body through the top of your head. Some people imagine this as white or golden light, but I prefer it to be twinkley silvery stars that effervence me with energies. Whatever appears to you as beautiful and energizing is great. Breathe in several deep breaths of cosmic energy, allowing it to expand your consciousness.
Continue breathing deeply, and alternate breathing between the two energizing forces:
- breathe in earth energy: imagine you're drawing the energy from the earth up through your spine all the way to the top of your head. Exhale up out the top of your head to the sky, then
- breathe in cosmic energy imagine your'e drawing this energy from the outer Universe into your body, down through the top of your head. Exhale down through your spine, back into the earth.
This alternate breathing is very powerful, as it keeps us balanced, allowing us to be both deeply grounded and vibrantly receptive and visionary. This deep, relaxed, rhythmic breathing is also very vitalizing for your body!
Once you have built up a suffecient amount of energy, allow this energy to expand outward from your body to fill the space around you. I usually "breathe" the energy out, visualizing it filling the entire room. Allow this energy to encircle you and whatever you will be working/playing with - your alter, pendulum, crystal ball, feng shui objects, incense, tarot cards, runes, etc. In this state of mind you will find your intuition much enhanced and your cures and rituals much more effective.
