Lucky Cats, or Lucky Money Cats are considered to bring good fortune

The story
of the original lucky cat begins in a poverty stricken temple in Tokyo.
The temple's priest was very poor, but he shared what little food he
had with a stray cat named Tama, who soon became his cherished companion..
One day, a feudal lord was caught in a huge storm, and took refuge under
a large tree near the temple. Suddenly the man noticed Tama, repeatedly
beckoning him to come inside the temple gate. He followed the cat into
the temple -- just as a lightning bolt struck the place where he had
been standing! Thus the cat saved his life, and the lord in turn enriched
the temple, the cat, and the priest. From then on, the Lucky Cat has
been considered an incarnation of Kuan Yin (the Goddess of Mercy) and
is a very auspicious animal to have in the home.
Did
